Artist statement seires “Adventures of Pin”

I take pictures of Pinocchio in strange places doing strange things. I grew up with a Pinocchio that is 3 feet tall and made of wood. He was often part of tent forts and tea parties. Pinocchio is a puppet with no strings that is free to do what he likes on his quest to be made real. I have cut my strings and no longer have a puppet master, as I build a new life for me and my children, I am finally making my own decisions. Going to new places, making new goals, and starting college is just the beginning. This is why I chose Pinocchio to embody me in my photography as a type of self-portrait. Life is messy. It can be full of wonder and joy. Sometimes we fall down or lose pieces of ourselves along the way. We must get back up, put ourselves back together and get ready for the next adventure life gives us. It isn’t always perfect, but it is our life to live. This is what Pin is doing out there in the world.
